|..Troy Davis Article..|
Who are the main players in Davis' story?
What happened when he was arrested, and what has happened since?
Where are we? What scenery or backdrops are present in Davis' story?
Why is he still incarcerated? What evidence exists that might prove his innocence?
Which argument against capital punishment does Davis' case exemplify?
The main players in the article are Troy Davis, his accuser, Mark MacPhail, the bum and the state of Georgia. When he was arrested, he was taken to court and was found guilty. Since his sentence, 7 out of the 9 non-police witnesses have reenacted to try and prove Troy Davis' innocence, but it was rejected on a 4-3 vote. As a result, everyone is waiting for the Supreme Court's decision to take on Davis' case or not. Troy Davis is still incarcerated because people are still saying he is innocent and he has been appealing for his innocent. There has been 7 of 9 people saying there was a different person shooting the dead cop. His lawyer is trying to prove his innocence by showing new evidence. Davis' case is against capital punishment because he is innocent, but the state of Georgia is holding him for his crime and going to punish him. It is not right to put a man to death because he is innocent. Racism is present in Davis' story as well as the people trying to give him support and referring to the Martin Luther King Jr. The court systems is still at fault and is one of the major backdrops of the case. There has been many botched death sentence cases so people don't want another one.
